Robert L. Battles Sr. (June 6th, 2017)
Robert L. Battles Sr. 83, of Mexico, died Tuesday at his home. He was born in Volney, the son of the late Wesley and Alice Dubois Battles. He was a machinist for Sealright of Fulton. He owned and operated Sunrise Stables and was a member of the Harmony Riders and the New York State Draft Horse Club. Bob enjoyed horseback riding. He was active in 4H and the Boy Scouts of America. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Marion, who died in 2002 and his three brothers, Jerry Battles, Chuck Battles and Leonard Battles.

Robert is survived by, his daughter, Robin (Timothy) Seaman; his three sons, Robert Battles, Jr. John Battles and Wallace Battles; granddaughter, Melissa Hamilton; grandson, Bobby Battles III; great-grandson, Jordan Hamilton; along with several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by, his six sisters, Dora Jean Altman, Arlene Alesci, Elaine Lazzaro, Dorothy Smith, Gloria DeMar and Diane McDougal; his brother Bill Battles of Volney and his beloved friend, Karlene Marks.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at the Harter Funeral Home, 9 Washington Avenue, Mexico NY. Burial will be in the Mexico Village Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 12, 2017 at the funeral home.
