She graduated from the Altmar branch of the Altmar Parish School as Valedictorian. She went on to the Oswego branch of the Rochester Business Institute. From there, she used her secretarial skills to work for the Parish Oil Company. She was later employed by the DeGarmo Lumber Company and then by the Merriam Insurance Agency. She was also a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts, in which her son was a member. She was a correspondent for the Independent Mirror, Pulaski Democrat and the Salmon River News, with her column "Howardville Happenings".
Myrtis had a strong faith in God; she was the Secretary of the Pulaski Congregational Church and a member of the Park Methodist Church in Pulaski. She was married in the Dugway United Methodist Church where she later became the Organist and a member of the UMW. She was very active in the UMW in both the Dugway and Amboy Center United Methodist Churches. She was the wife of the Pastor of the Amboy Center United Methodist Church. She was known for remembering to send cards on birthdays, get wells or sympathy.
She loved to travel to the New England states, but most of all, just going for a ride.
Surviving to cherish her memory, Myrtis is survived by her husband of 63 years, Donald Wiltse; her two children, Alaina La Point (Mike) and Lance Wiltse (Maxine); a step-grandchild, Michael La Point (Anick); along with two step- great grandchildren, Jacob and Natalie.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, from the Park United Methodist Church, 2 Hubble St. Pulaski NY. Burial will be in the Dugway Cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. at the Church prior to the service. Arrangements are in care of the Harter Funeral Home, 2983 West Main Street, Parish, NY.
