Mrs. Blunt was a Registered Nurse, employed for 20 years with the Oswego Hospital. She facilitated an Alzheimer's caregiver support group for 10 years. Eleanor authored a resource book for Alzheimer's caregivers under the sponsorship of the Oswego County Office for the Aging. She was a board member of the CNY Alzheimer's Association. In 1989, Eleanor was the recipient of a national honor as "Caregiver of the Year" by the National Office for the Aging. She also organized a patient advocacy program at the Oswego Hospital and contributed many volunteer hours there. Mrs. Blunt was the first degree graduate of S.U.N.Y.'s Experience Based Education Program, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Communication.
For Eleanor, family and her professionalism have had cherished meaning. Art lessons at 70 years of age opened a world of creativity in both painting and writing. She has been a lifelong member of the Methodist Church and held numerous offices throughout.
Mrs. Blunt was pre-deceased by her parents, Leo and Harriet Guyett; her husband, Clarance Blunt; her daughter, Catherine Campney; and her sister, Beulah Alexander. She is survived by, her daughters, Carol Pringle, Karen (Thomas) Poole; her sister, Nancy Hopkins; along with six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at the Lycoming United Methodist Church, 174 Miner Rd., Oswego NY. Interment will be Private in the Mexico Village Cemetery.
