Edna May (Pettey) Ladd passed away on Feb. 20 at the age of 93. Born Jan 27th, but not recorded until Jan 28th 1925 in Clayton NY, the daughter of Earl & Lavina (Trudell) Pettey raised in New Haven NY. She is joined in heaven by her husband of 55 years John H Ladd and their infant son Arnold. Together they lived a full life in Mexico NY running their business John H. Ladd & Sons Septic Tank & Well Tiles and raising 15 wonderful children. Edna was a mother not only to her own children, but to many of her grandchildren, neighbors and friends. Edna had the most remarkable memory as she would tell stories of her times in a one room schoolhouse with her brother and sister. She could also recite how each of her children received their name and each child's & grandchild's birth date & weight, an amazing feat with a family of
well over 200. Edna loved listening to and singing country music, yodeling, and going to the county fair. She loved going to Florida in the winter and coming home again. Most of all she was proud of the fact that she had 16 children and was a great, great grandmother. More than anything she cherished spending time with her family.
Edna was predeceased by her husband John, 1 son, 1 sister,1 brother & 6 grandchildren. Surviving are her children 8 daughters; Lavina (Jerry) McCabe, Louella (Walt) Szymanski, Evelyn (Rick) Strikewerda, Patricia, Edna (Jim) Yablonski, Peggy (Bill) Regan, Charlotte, & Denise. 7 sons John (Cheryl), Thomas, Rodney (Melinda), Edward (Nancy), Alan (Ann), Victor (Tammy) & Earl (Vicki), more than 190 grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren, several nieces & nephews.
