Cecelia (Ceil, CeCe, Nana) Manwaring, 96, peacefully passed away December 22, 2016 in Rochester, NY, surrounded by family. Born in Corning, NY, July 19, 1920, where she lived for 87 years, she moved to be closer to family twice, first to Pulaski, NY, and finally Rochester, NY. Feisty and funny, she was a hit with everyone she met. She worked for Corning Glass Works during WWII, and then worked for over 30 years at Rockwell’s Department Store in Corning. A life-long accomplished artist, she is well-known among family and friends for her watercolor artwork and exquisite Ivory soap Nativity sculptures. She loved music, sang alto, harmonizing by ear, and loved reading, old movies, her artwork, jigsaw puzzles, her family, children, grandchildren and granddogs. Her appreciation for books, and her talent in art and singing all have continued through the generations, a legacy for which we are all grateful.
Ceil is survived by daughters Carol (James Larry) Huff of Lake Placid, FL, and Mary Jane (Brian) Burke, and granddaughters Stephanie (Tim) Bishop, and Alana (Justin) Russotti, all of Webster, NY.
She was predeceased by her parents Dorothy (Brown) and Louis Lentricchia, and brother Francis (Tiny) Lentricchia.
The family offers heartfelt thanks to the staff on Hastings 3 at St. John’s Home for their warm and loving care of our mom and grandmother.
Arrangements are in care of the Harter Funeral Home, 9 Washington Avenue, Mexico NY.
