Bonnie (Blanche) Shumway (November 29th, 2017)
Bonnie (Blanche) Shumway passed away peacefully into the Lord's hands with family members by her side on November 29, 2017. She was born on November 16,1930 to Ralph and Bessie Shumway.

She was a long time resident of Mexico, New York. She attended Mexico School District graduating in 1948. She was graduated from Genesso State Teacher's College in 1952. Taught for two years in Rochester and three years in Liverpool, before returning to Mexico in 1957 to teach in the elementary level until retiring in 1992.

She was an active member for many years in the First Presbyterian Church, Mexico, NY, the order of the Easter Star, and the Mexico Historical Society. For twenty years she served as the Mexico Town Historian. She was honored as head teacher for Mexico Elementary School, president of the teacher's association and was inducted into the Mexico Academy and Central School District Hall of Fame.

Survived by a brother Dr. John D. Shumway (wife, Sally), ten nieces and nephews, numerous great nieces, nephews and great, great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, William (Bill) Shumway, sister, Jeanne S. Brown.

Friends and Family may call at the Harter Funeral Home, Mexico, NY. Wed. December 6, 4-7pm. The Funeral Service will be held at 10 am on December 7th at The First Presbyterian Church, 4361 Church St., Mexico, NY. Interment will be in the Mexico Village Cemetery.
